New Delhi, June 11, 2017 – 11 students belonging to economically weaker sections of the society sponsored by Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL) under its CSR programme, have qualified JEE Advanced examination 2017 as per the results declared today.
IGL, the largest CNG distribution company of the country engaged in supply of CNG and PNG in Delhi along with adjoining cities of Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad under its CSR programme focusing on education, had sponsored a total of 18 students who are meritorious but lack the means to obtain coaching for admission to prestigious IITs. All 18 of IGL sponsored students had qualified JEE Main 2017 examination earlier, whose results had been declared last month. These students had been provided free coaching for 10 months along with food, lodging, text books and other basic needs at Abhayanand Super -30 Delhi Centre being run by Centre for Social Responsibility and Leadership (CSRL) in Noida under the mentorship of Mr. Abhayanand, Co-founder Super -30 Patna.
Congratulating the students, Mr. E. S. Ranganathan, Managing Director, IGL said “I would like to congratulate these students who have made it in JEE Advanced as well as JEE Main examination this year by dint of their hard work despite all odds and wish them a promising future”. He added that “As a socially responsible organization, IGL has continuously been making efforts to engage with the community and will continue to do so in the future as well”.
All the 18 students sponsored by IGL belong to families with weak economic backgrounds. Saurabh Kumar, who got 2215 rank, happens to be son of a cable operator, while father of Abhishek Verma who got 2778 rank is a tailor. Similarly, the father of Pratik Kumar Singh who got 3569 rank works as a compounder in a small hospital.
While 11 out of these 18 students are expected to get admission in IITs, the rest are also expected to get admission in other reputed institutions like DTU, NSIT, NITs etc. in which admissions are done on basis of JEE Main score. IGL has been sponsoring meritorious students hailing from underprivileged sections of the society for last seven years and most of these students have achieved success in the highly competitive engineering entrance examination securing admissions in prestigious institutions.
