New Delhi, 10 April 2019 : Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL), the largest CNG distribution company of the country, has introduced the Type 3 CNG Cascade mounted on a CNG driven Medium Goods Vehicle (MGV) in collaboration with Tata Motors. Shri E. S. Ranganathan, Managing Director, IGL launched the MGV yesterday evening at IGL CNG station at Shakurpur in the capital in the presence of Mr Rajiv Sikka, Director (Commercial), IGL and senior officials of IGL and Tata Motors.
Type 3 Cascade is a structured bunch of Aluminum lined, carbon fiber wrapped cylinders. These ultra-light weight cylinder cascade are lighter in weight by about 70% when compared with conventional steel cylinders. This is an enormous advantage in cost effective gas transportation requirement. The high gas carrying capacity of these cascades allows them to be used as “Virtual Pipeline” and are termed as Multi Element Gas Containment (MEGC) systems. The Grab & Go units empower the users to start their operations with immediate effect as virtual pipeline rather waiting for pipeline infrastructure to develop.
These cascades are made to ISO standards approved by PESO. The safety features include thermally activated pressure relief device, non-fragmenting leak instead of bursting cylinders and robust structural frame designed to stringent ADR regulations. These safety features present a distinct advantage over the conventional cascades in circulation. This product is expected to be boon in the gas transportation industry.
Along with MEGC cascade, Tata Motors has also introduced its newly developed, LPT 1412 CNG model as their latest CNG variant offering in the market. LPT1412 CNG has 8 Ton payload capacity with about 95KG of CNG tank capacity, which would be suitable for long route applications. The vehicle is with bigger tyre size of 8.2X20 and available in 19 feet loading deck length. The driver seats and steering are adjustable as per requirement which makes the vehicle very comfortable. With higher capacity of load fuel and driver comfort, the vehicle can lead to increased operating profit of customers.
Through this launch in association with Tata Motors, Luxfer Uttam India and Chaudhary Transport Company, IGL has introduced bulk gas transportation system, which is a big move towards promoting eco-friendly transport in India.
