Bangalore, 02 August 2024: BEL has developed a technological upgrade to THD-1955 radar system, a milestone achievement under “Atmanirbhar Bharat” initiative. This development is a testament to India’s growing technological prowess & commitment to self-reliance in Defence.
The digitised radar THD 2.0 was inaugurated by Air Marshal V Rajashekhar, DG (System), and Mr Anoop Rai, CS (CRL)/ GAD yesterday. The upgraded Radar Receiver & Transmitter sections, developed by BEL mark a significant advancement in radar infra upgrade through indigenisation.
The upgrade has provided a technological boost to the age-old THD-1955 Radar and enabled the IAF to extend the lifetime of the radar by another 10-15 years. This has also resulted in significant Foreign Exchange savings for the nation.
