Rishikesh, 30 August 2024: THDC India Limited has achieved a significant milestone in the development of the 4×250 MW Variable Speed Tehri Pumped Storage Project (PSP), Tehri. Sh. R. K. Vishnoi, Chairman and Managing Director informed that on August 28, 2024, the Tehri-Koteshwar Line #3 was successfully energized for the first time, bringing the nation closer to its first 1000 MW Variable Speed Pumped Storage Project.
The charging of Line #3 is a crucial step forward as it enables the back charging of the Generator Step-Up (GSU) transformer for Unit #5. This, in turn, facilitates the drawl of startup power necessary for Voltage Source Inverter (VSI) testing and further commissioning activities. Sh. Vishnoi extended his heartfelt congratulations to the entire PSP team, acknowledging their dedication and relentless efforts in bringing this milestone to fruition.
The event was graced by the presence of Sh. Bhupender Gupta, Director (Technical), Sh. L. P. Joshi, Executive Director (Tehri Complex), Sh. A. R. Gairola, General Manager (PSP-Civil), Sh. S. K. Sahoo, AGM (I/C-PSP), along with other senior officials from THDCIL and representatives from M/s GEPIL.
Sh. Bhupender Gupta also addressed the team, commending their hard work and commitment. He warmly congratulated all members of the Tehri PSP team and associated stakeholders for their unwavering dedication to the project.
