NTPC, EDF to Collaborate on Pumped Storage, Hydro Projects & RE Opportunities

New Delhi, 24 February 2025: NTPC & EDF India Private Limited, owned by Électricité de France SA, a French multinational electric utility company owned by the Government of France, today signed a non-binding Term Sheet to develop, own & operate pumped storage and hydro power projects, including renewable energy integration and distribution opportunities.

The agreement was signed by Mr Federico D’Amico, CEO (EDF India) and Shri J C Kakoti, GM-Hydro Engineering (NTPC) in the presence of Shri Gurdeep Singh, CMD (NTPC) and Mr Luc Rémont, Chairman and CEO (EDF France). The MOU signing ceremony was graced by Shri Pankaj Agarwal, Secretary (Ministry of Power), Mr Patrick Charignon, Executive Vice President, APAC (EDF), Shri Goutam Deb, RED-Hydro (NTPC), Smt Sangeeta Kaushik, ED-Corporate Planning (NTPC) and senior officials from NTPC and EDF on the sidelines of Elecrama 2025.

The partnership aims to form a 50:50 JVC to drive innovation and decarbonisation in India’s energy sector. This collaboration will leverage expertise of both the companies to advance renewable energy solutions in India and its neighbouring countries.
