TERI Organized-‘India’s Enhanced Role in North-South Partnership on Faster Solar Energy Transition’

New Delhi, 06 September 2024: TERI in Collaboration with Becquerel for PV, organized the Leadership Panel – ‘India’s Enhanced Role in North-South Partnership on Faster Solar Energy Transition’ at the International Solar Festival 2024 in New Delhi.

Shri Vivek Kumar Dewangan (IAS), Chairman and Managing Director, REC India set the context for the panel discussion. “When government announced the scheme of one crore solar rooftops, REC was made the national implementation agency for achieving this target. We carried out a massive campaign for registration, and today about 17.5 lakh applications have already been submitted,” he said.

Shri Ajay Shankar, Distinguished Fellow, TERI moderated the discussion, and called India’s Solar journey an extraordinary success story. “When we began in 2010, our capacity was barely a couple of hundred MWs. A target of 20,000 MWs was announced. Today not only did we achieve it, but we have overachieved by four times,” he said.
